The Breeder warrants the dog has been examined by a veterinarian & to be in excellent health & free from parasites at the time of purchase /pick-up, but has not made & does not now make any further warranties as to the puppy’s condition after pickup or shipping.
It is the Buyers responsibility to prevent illness & injury by providing necessary booster vaccinations, vet care, nutrition, fresh water, shelter, & supervision. Further, the Breeder warrants that both the sire & dam ‘s hips have been x-rayed & evaluated by the Orthopedic Foundation of America(OFA). Both parents have also been tested for Exercise Induced Collapse (EIC) & Centronuclear Myopathy(CNM) & Eyes have been certified through the Canine Eye Registration Foundation (CERF). Results are posted on the OFA database online.
It is recommended by the Breeder that the Buyer takes the puppy to a Veterinarian of his / her choice within 5 days of purchase. If within those 5 days , a veterinarian finds the puppy to be unsound, unhealthy , or possessing a SERIOUS genetic defect, a statement in writing must be provided by that veterinarian documenting said condition for Breeder’s veterinarian to review. Upon conformation from Breeder’s vet of said condition , Buyer may return the puppy, registration , & all his /her effects to the Breeder & receive a full, immediate refund of the purchase price. All precautions have been made to insure this puppy is in excellent health at the time of purchase including vaccinations at 6 weeks of age & is included in your new puppy packet. It is recommended that the puppy be given additional vaccines at 9, 12, & 16 weeks of age. This puppy has been dewormed on a regular basis using Panacur & Pyrantel Pamoate.
Registration:
The Breeder certifies that this puppy is eligible for registration under the Regulations of the AKC/UKC as a pure bred Labrador Retriever & will provide proper forms for such registration. We would like but is not required to have the prefix Cypress Pond or CPK at the first of the puppy ‘s registered name. AGAIN THIS IS NOT A REQUIREMENT!!!!
D) Ownership Responsibilities:The Buyer agrees to maintain the dog in a humane environment & properly train & care for it. Specifically the dog will be properly licensed & inoculated against Rabies, distemper, parvovirus & other communicable disease as recommended by your vet. The dog will not be allowed to roam free, will be socialized, & obedience trained.
The Buyer agrees that the pup will not be raised on slippery surfaces or allowed to bound up & down stairs, rough house with larger dogs ,jump down from heights or out of cars etc, as this will contribute to breakdown of joints& growing bones, dislocation of shoulders, hips, & damaged elbows.
The Buyer further agrees that the puppy’s weight will be under strict supervision until the dog reaches his/her 2nd birthday. It is far better to have a pup that is slightly underweight than overweight, because excess weight also leads to structural breakdown. Buyer agrees that nothing will be given to the dog that can encourage rapid growth or weight gain .A high quality low protein formula dog food is recommended after this pup reaches 2 yrs old.
This puppy is guaranteed until the age of one year against any serious health problem & is also guaranteed to pass OFA hip certification through the age of 26 months. If a puppy is thought to have a genetic defect regarding it’s hips, hip x-rays must be taken per OFA recommendations & submitted to OFA. Puppy’s microchip number must be on recorded on the film when submitted to OFA. Copies of the OFA findings must be submitted to the Breeder. Defects must be proven to be genetic & not caused by environmental factors or mishandling by the Buyer, or feeding an improper diet. Any other serious genetic problem needs to be diagnosed by the Buyers vet & reports sent to the Breeder. The Breeder will let their veterinarian review reports to confirm whether the defect is genetic in nature.
If the puppy does not pass OFA for hip certification, or has a confirmed genetic defect, Buyer must show proof that the puppy is spayed or neutered via a vet certificate( Buyer keeps his/her dog) & may obtain a replacement puppy , when available, from the Breeder at 50% off the original selling price. The Breeder has done everything possible to eliminate hereditary diseases & problems by testing, care, pedigree, planning, & selection.
Buyer is responsible for transportation costs on any replacement puppy.
USE OF DOG:
It is agreed between Breeder & Buyer that this dog is being acquired as a family companion or working dog to be used for tasks appropriate for it’s breed such as therapy dog or for exhibition in AKC/UKC conformation, obedience, or agility competition. Buyer agrees that the dog is not purchased for re-sale nor will it be trained for activities that are illegal or for which it is not suited by reason of temperament or conformation.
SPECIFICALLY IT WILL NOT BE USED AS A GUARD DOG, ATTACK DOG, OR USED TO FIGHT OTHER ANIMALS!
The buyer agrees that he/she will not sell, transfer ownership or possession of the puppy or any of his/her progeny to any person or organization whose intent it is to sell(pet store), trade, use in any experiments, laboratory or other wise, or to use as breeding stock in a puppy mill.
